Our kid’s have born in a computer age.  Today they play with computer keyboards at the age of three, four. But good handwriting skill is still needed to remain in the forefront, whatever profession your child may encounter in his or her life. People are still appreciated for their good handwriting and signature. Good handwriting helps to develop self-esteem in a child a helps life long in his or her career.

Most kids aren’t that good in writing, and as they grow up it reflects in their school work.  Most kids don’t show much interest and concentration in writing, even if they do their homework regularly. But only when kids are at their elementary years, parents can help   their child to improve their handwriting.  There are simple ways to help them improve their writing.

Start early

Having neat handwriting helps the child throughout his or her life. Studies have shown that reading and writing capacity can be developed among children at an early age. And these early effort brings visible results in their life as they continue to grow. So, it is responsibility of parents to enhance the writing skill of their child by encouraging them to improve their writing habit.

Steps to be taken

Provide your child a flat surface and well lighted space for writing. Enough space should be there to work.

Place the paper in such a way that bottom corner faces the belly button. The slanting position of paper will help them to form alphabets properly. Set the non writing hand on the top of the copy or paper. Let the elbow rest on the table. Make sure that your child sits straight. Let your child grasp the pencil properly at the tip with index finger at the top and the thumb below, resting the pencil on the third finger. The child should hold the pencil approx one inch from the tip. Let the kid write, on her own. Watch the formation and guide her to correct.  Leave enough space between each letters. Take care that the work is neat. Don’t let the child use eraser frequently. Only one alphabet should be taken at a time. Proceed to the next only when the child writes it properly.  Appreciate his or her effort to encourage. Continue guiding the kid to improve his or writing till they are in their elementary school. Your regular guidance will help the kid to enhance his or her hand writing.
