If you are unaware of what pigmentation actually is, you must understand that it is essentially a skin disorder in which discoloration of skin occurs. Skin pigmentation usually occurs because off the malfunctioning in endocrine glands or the liver. Malfunctioning of the liver or the endocrine glands can lead to darkening or excessive coloration of skin. In some cases for spots and patches may also appear.

Both hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation are caused due to changes in melanin production. When body produces less melanin hypopigmentation may be caused and opposite to it when the body produces extra melanin, hyperpigmentation may result. In some people, skin pigmentation disorders affect only certain skin areas, while in others these problems may affect the entire surface of skin.

Addison's disease: This hyperpigmentation disease occurs due to inefficiency of body to produce specific adrenal hormones. This causes an area of skin to become darker.
Albinism: This is a hypopigmentation problem and generally happens due to genetics. In some cases, individuals suffering from this condition may not produce any melanin at all.
Vitiligo: In this disease, the melanin-producing cells may stop functioning due to which random lightening of skin may result leaving white spots.
Liver Spots: This is a common disorder and it generally happens in older people due to increased amount of pigment in skin.
Melasma: Melasma is a condition in which facial skin of a pregnant woman may become dark when exposed to sunlight. As soon as the pregnancy is over, the skin returns to its origin of pigmentation.
Clear Pigmentation Naturally
There are a number of ways in which skin pigmentation can be cleared naturally. Some effective remedies to cure pigmentation are discussed below.
• You can treat the pigmented area with milk. For doing this, you need to mix some milk powder and approximately 2 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide. You can mix both these ingredients together to make a thick paste after which two drops of glycerin can be added to it. Apply the mixture on pigmented areas. Cleanse after 20 minutes.
• Vitamin E also helps in reducing pigmentation and bestowing flawless skin. You can buy vitamin E capsules that are easily available at medical shops and break it to take out the oil. Make Vitamin E oil with a few drops of castor oil's and then apply it on the affected area.
• Another great remedy for treating skin pigmentation is mixing any cleansing cream with a spoon of granular sugar and rubbing it in circular motion on the affected areas. You will also be able to get rid of rough dry skin with this remedy.
Lifestyle changes To Treat Skin Pigmentation
In order to cure pigmentation, it is very important for you to bring some lifestyle changes. You must avoid sun and in case you have to go out when sun is at its peak, you must not forget to wear a sunscreen with SPF 15 or more and PA+++. You must also exfoliate your skin on regular basis and keep in mind that the products you use should be pH neutral. If you are using some over-the-counter products to treat pigmentation, use the ones that have high quality AHAs. You also need to be patient and regularly monitoring skin changes.
