Shedding of hair is classified into two types, namely, scarring or non-scarring. While scarring alopecia has already been discussed above as it is a permanent hair loss, often a result of heredity; the Non-scarring alopecia can arise due to a number of factors but it is temporary hair loss and can be treated to bring the hair growth back to normal. Written below are some causes of temporary hair loss that you must ponder upon:
  • Autoimmune diseases such as alopecia areata can lead to hair loss. The condition may cause bald spots or complete hair loss on scalp, body as well as face.
  • Telogen effluvium is a condition in which there is widespread hair shedding. The condition generally arises due to surgery, trauma, illness or some specific medication.
  • Tinea capitis is a fungal infection that generally causes hair loss in children. However, the condition can be treated easily and it is very important to consult a pediatrician so that the condition can be treated as early as possible. Hair loss may also be caused due to a fungal infection but it can be easily reversed with help of prescribed medication or home remedies. Other infections that can cause hair loss include ring worm.
  • Dietary problems, intake of unhealthy food, and certain medications can be a cause behind hair loss. Lack of nutrients can cause your hair to become thin and sparse or dry. Anemia, anorexia, malnutrition, diabetes, psoriasis and bulimia may also lead to hair loss.
  • An autoimmune disease called to lupus is also a major cause behind hair loss. The condition causes inflammation of different organ tissues including hair follicles causing severe hair loss.
  • A number of medications including chemotherapy and other cancer treatments may also lead to temporary hair loss.
Nutrition

Some people do not have a diet that contains all the required nutrients. In order to stay away from hair loss, it is very important to have a diet that is balanced and contains proteins, iron, vitamins as well as minerals. Hair loss may also be a result of eating disorders.

Medicine

There are a number of people suffering from depression, arthritis, heart issues as well as high blood pressure. These people cannot avoid taking the prescribed medicines, some of which cause hair loss. A lot of women taking birth control pills may also experience hair loss.

Mental Illness

Unfortunately, hair loss cannot be treated with a single treatment. Moreover, there is no treatment for hair loss that offers guaranteed results. However, by successfully locating the cause behind shedding of hair, you can treat the cause of hair loss from root and successfully reverse it.
