Dull and uneven skin, blocked pores, blackheads and white heads…. all these problems are sign of congested skin and these skin problems affects not only teenagers but adults also. Black heads, which are also called open comedomes are tiny plugs in skin that can be seen at the opening of a pore or follicle. This pore plug is basically a combination of sebum, oils and dead skin cells. Since it is present on the skin’s surface; it turns dark due to oxidation. Whiteheads are also a problem of skin congestion that blocks cellular debris. Since whiteheads are not open, they do not get oxidized and therefore remain light in color.
Contributing Factors
There are a combination of factors that aggravate the problems of whiteheads, blackheads and blocked pores. Other then sebum, skin oil and toxins, pollution, dead skin cells, dirt and occlusive make-up also play an important role in congesting skin. In fact, each factor contributes a significant role.
Skin Oil & Sebum: Sebum and excess oil production in the skin fills up the pores and also increases the growth of bacteria. In combination with external factors such as pollution and dirt, blackheads are easily formed.
Toxic Congestion: Lymph and blood are responsible for supplying nutrition to skin. However, if toxins are present in our blood, they get eliminated through skin and this process contributes congestion. Elimination of toxins through skin also contributes to skin irritation and acne.
Dead Skin Cells: It is a normal process of skin to replenish itself in three or four weeks. This process creates a layer of dead cells over the skin's surface and if you do not remove them, your skin starts to look dull. These dead cells also plug the pores that the present on the face and create blackheads and whiteheads
Make Up: Makeup happens to be the main reason behind skin congestion. Mostly all makeup products contain petrochemical based oils which have a negative effect on skin. These products hinder the process of breathing of skin and also block pores. Since some people cannot do without makeup, it is important that proper care of skin is taken. It is essential to remove makeup everyday and revitalize skin with nutrition.
Treating Clogged Pores, Dull And Uneven Skin
A regular skincare routine can keep your pores unclogged and skin clean. You can use different products and regimens to achieve the type of skin you desire.
Use a glycerin-based soap and water to keep your face clean. Make sure the soap you choose is non--comedogenic so that it does not blocks your skin. Also exfoliate your skin at least twice a week using a good facial scrub made of apricot or almond. It will help in removing dead skin cells and revitalizing the skin while providing it a youthful glow.
Use different skin care products that are designed specifically for unblocking pores. Products containing tea tree oil are very good for keeping skin blemishes and skin congestion away. Also remove blackheads regularly from your skin using a good blackhead remover.
